WTF - Things I'd Like To Hear

Most of my days are full of listening to things I don't want to hear, the elephant thuds of boys footsteps through the house, the washing machine giving up the ghost, the bright ideas of boys to the husband wanting to explain the basics of organizing the Kitchen pantry.  Just for once, here's a few things I'd LOVE to hear:

"Did you read the news story, they've developed a pill that kills all the fat in wine.  It's called WineNo"

"Oh wait Mom, why don't you relax while my brother and I read you some poetry."

My RunKeeper App, "Oh wait I was wrong, I thought you were on mile 12 but you are actually at mile 13.1."

"I just read your blog.  Yes, I actually read it.  You know, a lot of people read your blog."

"Did you read there is a low cost permanent solution to billy goat hairs on the chinney chin chin?"

"Don't worry Mom, I'm sure I'll find someone to carpool with to all the football practices, you should't waste all that gas."

"Dinner?  Don't worry about it, we're not hungry."

"Hey look, it is actually 5 o'clock."

"Mrs. Melang, did you notice the wine was on sale?

"Mom, I heard everything you said, I'm going to go do it right now."

"We're going on a long drive?  Let me go to the bathroom first."

"Here Mom, here's your charger, I don't need it anymore."

"Did the dog take a crap on the floor?  Let me go ahead and clean that up."

"I'm tired of playing games on my phone all the time, I think I will read a book."

"That dress you wore in high school?  It fits you perfectly now."

And the best one?

"My brother and I have decided to get along.  Why cause so trouble?

What would you like to hear if you had the perfect day?

Famous Last Words

There are many times in life when you think, "Maybe this is not a good idea," but go ahead anyway.  Here are a few famous last words, take heed because when you hear them, run as fast as you can in the opposite direction.

"I know you have curly hair, the perm will put control in it.  Hold on, let me read the directions."

This is what my mother said, when, at sixteen, she talked me into a perm.  I am sure the directions didn't say make a part down the middle, roll away from the part with small rollers, leave it in too long.  Needless to say, it was not fun at sixteen, to have hair that looked like pubic hair on my head in the shape of Bozo the clown.

"This going to hurt me more that it hurts you."

This is usually followed by some type of torture.  A sibling holding the hot sauce to your tongue, a friend look at at the fish hook in your finger holding pliers, to the husband holding your hand as you realize the epidural didn't work and the doctor is saying, "It's time to push!"

"Don't move."

Again, this means pain.  The bee sitting on your nose as your sister holds the fly swatter, the snake next to your foot, or the toddler holding the snake out to you saying, "LOOK!  WORMS!"  William Tell coined this phrase using his little brother as a test subject on his Apple Arrow experiment.  Sadly, no one remembers the brother's name.

"Hold my beer."

I have yet to see any good idea started with this saying.  This usually ends with the person originally holding the beer, left holding the beer as the ambulance takes their friend to the ER.

"Don't worry, it's easy."

This usually means you'll be nursing cuts from the run/bike or standing lost on the side of a mountain with the only quick way available means scaling the side of some cliff.

"Three easy payments."

Your interest free offer is a setup.  They make it difficult to make the first payment, and when you hit their 15 day grace period they jack up the interest to 20%.  Of course you called several times trying to get an account number, they consider that giving information away to the enemy.

"I'm sorry I did not understand you."

This is that robotic voice usually leading the caller to throw down the phone and go out into your backyard and throw stuff around.  Then to accept that you will be lost in automatic customer service hell for the next hour and go back to your phone.

"Please wait."

This could be a computer program downloading, a customer service representative for Pure Romance, or the hostess at Cracker Barrel.  It is best to not think about life passing you buy and it could make you go back outside and throw things around.

"Momma, I love you."

Sure it's sweet, but there is always an ulterior motive behind this.  What follows is usually a WTF type statement like, "Can I use your crock pot to melt neon paint for my skateboard," or, "I'm not sure why your phone isn't working anymore."  The depth of the love statement is directly correlated to what they are requesting of you.

There are many famous last words, the only one I will take any time, anywhere are the "I love you's."

Of course, I usually follow them with, "Ummm, no."

Truths about kids....

10.  If it is expensive, they will break it.

9.  If you really like it, they will lose it.

8.  If they lose it, it is before you get the enjoyment of using it.

7.  If you buy another, and tell them not to touch it.  They will wait one day until they use it - and break it.

6.  They will not know how they broke it.

5.   Blame usually consists of siblings pointing at each other.

4.  Even if it is not supposed to come apart, they will find a way to take it apart.  And break it.

3.  If it is a secret, they will say it.

2.  If it is embarrassing, they will say it loudly and in a crowd.

1.  If it is a drink and in a restaurant, it will be spilled, and in your lap.

New Sayings for this Day and Age

Here's some new sayings around my household:

"Everything is a reasonable price until the hoarder in your pops out and you buy the whole lot, then it gets expensive." - husband after trip to Target.

"I can tell you one hundred times that you will break that if you keep playing with it that way, or I can drink a glass of wine and watch." - mom, with new electronic.

"Everything's easier when the kids are in bed asleep." - husband every night.

"If I make it, you eat it.  No, you do not have another choice, I just put energy into making it." - Mom, standing in kitchen with long knife in hand.

"Some mornings it's just easier to sigh and go with the sugar options." - Mom at the Krispy Kreme drive thru speaker.

"Which would you rather have on that cut, alcohol or peroxide.  No there is no other choice." - Mom to child who will not let anyone clean out his cut.

"Oh, you so have a visit from Evil Mommy coming mister!" - Mom to kids when looking in their bedroom.

"Am I listening to you?  What?" - Wife, to husband when watching Criminal Minds.

"You're lucky you're cute because you're the reason I tinkle every time I sneeze." - Mom to youngest when he will not stop singing the same song line over and over again.

"Don't have time to clean?  Just lower the blinds, everything looks cleaner in a dimmer light." - Mom, to kids, when she wants to see a movie instead.

"You always have something to say, sometimes the better option is to simply not say it." Mom to girlfriend when telling about argument with hubby from night before.

"Leave my hoarder closet alone, I need all that shit." - Wife, to husband when he opens the door that should not be opened.

"Leave it there.  Why?  Because I put it there.  I won't find it again if you move it." - Wife, to husband when he tries to organize her kitchen.

"Seriously, order the Diet Coke.  It counteracts the calories in the Big Mac." Mom to girlfriend after girls nite out.

"I shall repeat myself because there is a big difference between what I just said, and what you thought you just heard." - Me to myself, in my head.

Why Can't I.....

Inside the mind of a child...

Why can't I have candy for breakfast?  See this chocolate bar says, "MILK" chocolate.

Why can't I leave that wet towel on the floor?  Each time I step over it, it moves a little bit which is actually cleaning the floor.

Why can't I leave my dresser drawers open and hanging?  Makes it easier to see what is in them early in the morning?

Why can't I leave the bag of chips on the floor?  The dog needs to eat too.

Why can't I wear the same clothes for four days in a row?  I really like this shirt.

Why can't I use your shampoo on the dog?  It makes her hair so soft.

Why can't I put these on the table?  It says, "Sanitary Napkins."

Why can't I eat this bottle of vitamins?  If one is good for you them 10 should be great.

Why can't I use your toothbrush, we're family?
